Maybe I am Back?
I have missed this blog. I miss the book world. Working at Barnes & Noble and working toward my degree in Creative Writing was my dream, but through a series of unfortunate events, I gave that up. When I gave that up I gave up reading for enjoyment too to some extent. I deleted my profiles, hid this blog, and lost touch with the book community I had carefully cultivated through the years. When I went through a bout of pretty bad illness the last few months I picked the books back up. There were so many days when all I could do was sit on the couch with bathroom breaks being the only time I could get up (with crutches). I read A LOT, and it made me realize how much I missed the community. I don't know what the future looks like, whether it is Booktok, just rambling on here, bookstagram, or occasional posts on Litsy, but I know the book world is booming and I want to be part of it again.
Circumstances have changed too! I have a wonderful (NEW! <3) husband who hates the idea of me getting rid of even one book. I was casually scanning books on my shelf through the thriftbooks trade-in app last night and when he saw what I was doing, he was visibly grouchy with me! That is an interesting change.....We also don't have a lot of downtime. Between my garden, cows, farm, and family spread out across half a state, I have been spending a lot of time in trucks, so I have been blasting through audiobooks.
All this is to say, I am back, in some capacity. We will see where it goes.

"She looks up to count the number of patrons she’s likely to have to run out. Thirty minutes had passed since she hollered the last call, and she was more than ready to head home. Her usuals, Joe from Waterstone Street with the cheating ex-wife he couldn't let go of, was always left in the corner booth. Lenny, a disgruntled tax accountant with a shiny smile by day, always looked ten shades past haggard come midnight and it was even farther downhill from there. Sandra sat next to the stage, remembering the good old days when she was so and so’s best girl, a groupie gone to seed. The dim lights cast all their faces into shadows of themselves even more than the alcohol making up the majority of their bloodstreams. She couldn't tell if Joe or the floor under him was dirtier. Janice decided five years ago she didn't get paid enough to mop under Joe’s booth. It was never empty anyway."
What's Happening:
We fulfilled a big goal! We were able to buy our own starter herd of cows! Plus, we are helping to take care of my in-laws bottle calf and that is always fun.
Here are my two favorite wedding pics! I might do a blog about that later with more!
